2 AM was NOT a good idea!!

I have this horrible habit of staying up after the boys go to sleep and watching tv. I always think that I will watch just one show and head back to bed. Yeah that never happens. Last night I ended up staying up til 2 AM and today I am suffering for it. Why do I do this to myself??

We have just one more full week before school starts so I have ALOT to get done. The major thing is to get the boys (and me) to bed earlier and set our alarm to get us up early. I'm hoping that getting it done this week will make the boys less grumpy when school starts. I honestly hope I can get up. I am horrible with alarms. I usually get Todd to wake me up because I will turn the alarm off in my sleep.

Another task on my "Ta Da" List is to get the boys new shoes, white T-shirts, and socks. Man the more I type the more I am dreading school!! There are other things to get done and I thought this post was going to be about that, but now I am changing my mind.

It is going to be a bummer when the boys are back in school. For one it is hard for me to think about them being gone so long during the day. School days are too long. SEVEN hours is too much. That is seven hours out of like what 5 waking hours I have with them during a day. I know they need school for so many more reasons than just the obvious of an education. And I know it gets tough some days at home trying to keep them occupied and teach them that being bored is okay. BUT.....I am going to miss my babies!!!!!!!!!

Plus, I am a SAHM so I will be home....alone!! And yes I hear all the sighs that say you should be singing happy songs that you will be home alone. I am sure I will some days. I just worry because I have anxiety and depression. I have blogged about all of this numerous times. My illnesses are constant just like anyone else with a physical illness. I have to keep it in check with medication, God, and Family. Then there are still days or weeks where it is almost impossible to make it through the day. With God's grace I do, it isn't a pretty day full of me being supermom. It usually consists of a lot of movies and minecraft with the boys.

So I am fully aware that this change can trigger me. What can I do during these first few weeks to keep myself on point? Please share :)

Blessed and swim obsessed!!!

We are very very very blessed to have friends that live right across the street, and a bonus is that they have a pool!!!! Yep, we are those people! Well I try not to be those people. But our friends are so sweet and let us swim just about anytime. I still make sure we ask before we swim and we aren't always begging to come over. If it was up to the boys we would live there.

The days we do go, we travel in style. They load up on Mason's car and I add my junk in it and we cruise on over.

Then there is A LOT of jumping in the water!!

And of course we practice swimming and holding our breath under water

see the shoe above, well I had to put it there so they would move over enough so when they jumped in the pool they didn't jump onto the steps

And then they get back in Mason's cute car and drive home :) They sleep so well on these days!!!

Bathtime reflections, lol

This is has been the best summer!!!! I am really sad that the boys start school in less than two weeks. I feel like we have even become even closer as a family. And we are so close already, it is neat to see how God opens up hears and makes connections even closer than you imagined. I love how I can be sitting anywhere in the house and both boys gradually drift over and sit right beside me or in my lap. It is like I am their center and they are just drawn to me. One day I was on one couch with them and wanted to see if they would follow me to the other couch. I got up and went over the other couch and stretched out. Not too long after I had one on top of the couch using the cushions like a bed above me and the other one laying on my feet. HAHAHA!!

And I really love this new rhythm we've had this summer. It has been low key, go with the flow, and very nice. Of course, there are times that it isn't go with the flow or we get on each other's nerves. But those are very few times.

One of those times was last night. And it was me that needed a break. Todd came home from work, it was one of his days where he gets home by 3!!!! Yeah I love that day. I decided to take a long hot bath. As I was about to soak and relax I get a FaceTime call from Mason. Yeah I hooked up their iPads so they can text and FaceTime family. I had to answer he was too cute. Momma where are you, you in the bathtub? I said yep I am. And then I saw on the screen as he dashed up the stairs and straight to my bathroom door. Then I heard a knock knock, playing along I asked who is it? He just giggled on his screen. I told him to come on inside.

I was thinking dang it I just wanted a hot bath with nothing to think about. My shoulders were hurting from sleeping well more like hanging half off the bed for the past two nights. (another post). I asked Mason okay are you wanting to get in the bath with me? It is really hot and I really want to relax. He just said nah I just want to be with you.

me: awe I love you mason
mason: no I'm spiderman

me: oh ok I love you spiderman (I should have known from his mask and spiderman suit he had on)
mason: can I get in the bath

me: no remember it is really hot and I want to relax
mason: ok (picture him taking his spiderman mask off then throwing it at a towel hanger on the back of our door)
Mason: says (as he is jumping and trying to throw the spiderman mask up high enough to get caught on the hook) are you we waxed? aka relaxed
me: yes (on the inside dying because I am watching him jump up and down up and down up and down)

Mason: I got it!!!
me: YAY!!!

Then he proceeded to get it down with a  soap bottle. He actually got it down and then threw the mask back up many times after that. At first I wanted to yell at the top of my lungs downstairs to Todd to get Mason and let me chill. But after watching him I found myself watching him and realizing that these are the moments I will miss and need to cherish while they are here.

I will have plenty of time to take a long hot bath while they are at school. Que the tears!!!!! I am not a fan of change. Isn't it true that once you finally get in the groove of something, change happens. I better prepare for it. I swear I thought this summer would go differently. I was sure I would go nuts or something. And I have lost my marbles before (so to speak) so I was really worried. Thank the Lord it went differently!!

Hello Life, all I need is stickers and a planner!!!

As the day gets crazy, the kids get grumpy, things do not going according to plan, when it is all you can do to hold it together til bedtime. Does that sound familiar? Well, I have the weirdest way that I relax after the kids go to bed.
I am a planner addict!! I need something right in front of me to write in and check things off. And now with this planner, eeeeek to decorate!!! Just look at the options. There is a month page.
And week by week pages.
And before each month you can set up goals, remember birthdays, and jot down important dates.
I love these faith stickers! I may or may not have already bought more.
And of course I had to add some personalization to the front!!!
I bought mine from Amazon. HERE is the link to the planner and HERE is the link to the faith stickers. If you are a prime member or an amazon lover you know that under the item it links you to other items that are similar. You can find other stickers for your needs.

Swim Lessons

I love the way you feel weightless but fully surrounded. Water is just my thing. Swimming has always been my favorite thing about summer. I started swimming when I was still wearing diapers. I had this "bubble" I clicked on and it was basically a strap and some styrofoam on back that kept me up a little.  I could stay in the water all day long. Then when I was out of diapers my brother just threw me in and I swam. He was a lifeguard so I guess he knew what he was doing. And I am sure that all of the swimming I did with my "bubble" prepared me. I can see that now because I have seen my boys go from barely putting their heads under water to now swimming underwater!!!! It is amazing!!!

Swimming lessons, as a mom you have two fears! One that the child will freak out and hate water forever or the latter that the child will be so brave that now you can't stop him from jumping into the deep even if he cannot swim. You dream of the in between, the cautious yet brave swimmer.

Well I walked into these lessons with both fears. I knew Noah had swimming lessons as a baby. Those lessons were not really lessons. I look back at them and think what was she teaching! Then I put both Noah and Mason in swim lessons two summers ago and Mason ended up breaking his leg with only two days left of lessons. This momma was hitting a zero when it came to swim lessons.

But not this year, this would be the year my boys would learn to swim! Even if I had to pull out the old "bubble" and do it myself. Thankfully, I did not have to do that, lol!!

The first day of lessons Mason had told me he was NOT swimming. I prepared for the worst but hoped for the best. And y'all a miracle happened. The best happened!!! The teacher was sweet and the boys just walked right down the steps and listened like they were becoming olympic swimmers.

I am sure the relief showed on my body. My shoulders actually went back to their appropriate place instead of scrunching up high in anxiety.

The teacher started quickly and had them swimming in record time!!! Below are a two pics of each boy swimming. Sorry the quality is bad, the pool is inside and the lighting is horrible.

Yay for SWIMMING and having these boys become my little FISHIES!!!

Summertime makes me feel fine

I am not going to do what you all think I am going to do which is

Flip out and chat about being back

I really dreaded this summer and having two boys at home all day er' day. But to my surprise I have loved every second of it. Okay, well maybe not the group trips to the bathroom. Why is it every time I go to the potty the boys and the dog want to come in and chat? Noah and Mason are at super great ages right now, Noah is 7 and Mason is 4. And I feel confident taking them out and about without dealing with tons of meltdowns. Or having to find a place that accommodates both ages.

We have spent most of our time at a local place that has several bounce houses and slides. If you are in the area (McDonough GA) then head to Woody's. Everyone is friendly. And my favorite part is I can see all of the bounce houses and slides from one spot. Although I still walk around and watch the boys play.

The other spot we like to hit up that helps the boys sleep oh so soundly at night is Sky Zone. I tend to pick places that are:
  • what I call parent and kid friendly
  •  and tires my guys out
The first time we visited Sky Zone Mason was a bit nervous. He and well Noah too take their time getting comfy when we go to a new place. Sky Zone has music playing, tons of trampolines, an arcade, and a concession stand. I think it was too much for them at first. Oh and I must add the cool multi-colored lights. After probably 10 minutes and me jumping with Mason in hand they both joined right on in. Yes I said I jumped. Have you ever birthed two kids and then try to jump on a trampoline? I think that is enough said about that :)

And last but not least, the best spot we go to is our neighbor's pool. We have the best neighbors that tell us to come over and swim anytime we want. However, I do not want to become that person that just shows up randomly all of the time. And boy does swimming make the boys tired and HANGRY!!!

I cannot wait to share about swimming lessons and show some videos on my next post.

I was in no way compensated or asked to write about Woody's or Sky Zone.

Hello, again!!
